How AI's Image Understanding is Transforming Real Estate
Discover how Picket's advanced AI technology interprets images with remarkable accuracy. From identifying foundation cracks to damaged roof shingles, explore the power of AI image recognition and its revolutionary potential for real estate investment platforms.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made remarkable strides in recent years, particularly in the realm of image recognition. The ability of AI to comprehend and interpret visual data has opened up a multitude of possibilities across various industries. In the context of real estate, this capability is not just a technological advancement but a transformative force.
Picket recently released an interactive prototype that showcases how well Picket AI can generally understand images. This demo illustrates how our technology can accurately label and delineate elements within any image, whether related to real estate or not. For instance, it can identify specific issues such as foundation cracks or damaged roof shingles, providing precise annotations that highlight these areas.
In the above example, the same Picket AI model is able to not only identify objects but also judge their quality or more specific attributes. For example, while many generalized object detection models can correctly identify a "person," the Picket AI model goes further, identifying specifics such as "Child in red dress" and "Young woman." Some other interesting and impressive outcomes from the sample set include:
Identifies Cabinet interior: To correctly identify this model needs to essentially predict the object based on the other objects like "Garbage disposal unit" and "Water supply hose".
Identifies Rolled-up Map: If you zoom in on this photo you will see that the woman actually is holding a rolled up map in her hand, a level of detail not easily obvious to a human observer.
Identifies "Exposed" Wooden Beams - Identifying wooden beams alone doesn't sound all that impressive, but consider the cognitive jump required to know when a wooden beam is relevant because it is "exposed", such as in this photo where you would not expect to see an exposed wooden beam.
The significance of AI's ability to interpret images lies in its potential to revolutionize every facet of real estate. By accurately analyzing visual data, AI can automate and enhance processes that traditionally require human assessment. This foundational capability serves as the bedrock for a range of applications that will dramatically improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making in real estate investment and management.
In subsequent posts, we will delve into specific applications of this technology, such as integrating AI into maintenance chatbots, comparing vendor completion photos and much more. We invite you to experience our AI's capabilities firsthand through our interactive demo. This tool allows you to upload images and observe how our AI analyzes and annotates them, providing a glimpse into the future of real estate technology.
